What it is & What it is like
Tanghulu, also known as bing tanghulu, is a traditional Chinese snack（中华传统小吃）made out of fruits skewered（刺穿） on bamboo sticks（竹签） that are coated in a crispy shell of sugar. The sugar coating（糖衣） is where the “bing（冰）” in the name comes from, because “bing” means iced. The tanghulu part of the name means “bottle gourd” which references the overall shape of the snack (that is said to resemble the shape of the gourd fruit). The name literally means “iced bottle gourd.”
